About

Hobo Gulch Campground is a secluded primitive camping destination tucked along the North Fork of the Trinity River in Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The campground offers 10 rustic tent-only sites available on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees required. Basic facilities include vault toilets, but campers must bring their own water or filter from nearby river sources. The primary draw for this remote location is the Hobo Gulch Trailhead, situated half a mile above the campground. This trailhead opens the door to some of the most spectacular backcountry in the Trinity Alps Wilderness, with popular destinations including Grizzly Lake and Papoose Lake. The area offers an authentic wilderness experience far from developed campgrounds. Access requires navigating a 12-mile stretch of Hobo Gulch Road (34N07Y), and a high-clearance vehicle is recommended. No trailers are permitted due to road conditions and limited site space. The remote location and primitive facilities make this campground best suited for experienced campers seeking solitude and wilderness access.
