The Heron Lake Visitor Center Great Room is an indoor event and meeting facility located at Heron Lake State Park in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico. This is not a campground; it is a day-use rental space designed for special events and gatherings. The Great Room showcases traditional Southwestern architecture with a ceiling constructed of peeled pine tree vigas and includes a recessed kiva fireplace. The space offers panoramic views of Heron Lake surrounded by tall pines. It can accommodate up to 75 people and is well-suited for weddings, memorials, board meetings, training sessions, and other gatherings. Two rental time slots are available: a daytime session from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM and an evening session from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Rental rates range from $100 to $200 depending on the time slot. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance through the New Mexico State Parks reservation system. For actual overnight camping at Heron Lake State Park, visitors should look at the developed and primitive campgrounds located elsewhere in the park.

Directions

From Santa Fe, take US 84/285 north through Espanola to Tierra Amarilla. Take State Road 95 west for 6 miles. The Heron Lake Visitor Center will be on the left.
