About

Happy Meadows Campground is a small, peaceful campground nestled along the South Platte River in the Pike National Forest. Located just 3 miles north of Lake George at an elevation of 7,900 feet, this campground offers 7-8 sites, including two buddy sites ideal for groups camping together. The setting provides easy access to excellent fishing on the South Platte River, known for its trout. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring with grate, and pedestal grill. Potable drinking water is available from a hand pump, and vault toilets are provided. Parking spurs range from 20-30 feet with a maximum trailer length of 22 feet, making this campground better suited for tent campers and smaller RVs. No hookups are available. The campground operates from mid-May through mid-October, weather dependent. A 14-night consecutive stay maximum applies, and a bear closure order is active requiring bear-resistant food storage. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov up to 5 days prior to arrival; unreserved sites become first-come, first-served.
