No official USFS or Recreation.gov listing exists for Hayman Campground. The area was burned in the 2002 Hayman Fire. If this was a developed campground, it appears to have been destroyed and not rebuilt.

About

Hayman is listed as a USFS camping location in Pike National Forest (now Pike-San Isabel National Forests), Park County, Colorado. However, no current official Recreation.gov or USFS database lists an active campground by this name. The site falls within the 2002 Hayman Fire burn area, one of the largest and most destructive wildfires in Colorado history. The fire burned 138,114 acres and destroyed numerous campgrounds and recreation facilities. Official USFS documentation notes that Goose Creek Campground is the only remaining developed campground in the area following the fire. If camping in this vicinity, visitors should use officially listed campgrounds on the South Platte Ranger District such as Goose Creek, Lone Rock, or Platte River campgrounds, or follow USFS regulations for dispersed camping on forest service roads in the region.

Directions

After your direct flight from one of Australia’s major capital cities to Hamilton Island Airport, onward travel by luxury vessel, helicopter, or private charter is required to reach Hayman Island.
