About
Governor Thompson State Park Campground sits in Wisconsin's North Woods near Crivitz, spread across more than 2,800 acres of forested land along 6 miles of Caldron Falls Flowage shoreline. The family campground is located on the north side of the park, about half a mile from the flowage, and features 100 sites divided into three loops: the east loop has 30 sites including 16 with electric hookups and two fully accessible sites; the north loop has 30 non-electric sites; and the south loop has 40 non-electric sites. Facilities include vault toilets distributed throughout the campground, a centralized building with flush toilets and showers, potable water fountains, and a sanitary dump and fill station at the campground entrance. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. The park also offers three primitive boat-in campsites on the south shore of Caldron Falls Flowage, featuring canoe racks, boat tie-ups, bear-proof food boxes, and outdoor toilets. Recreation options include swimming at the beach on Woods Lake, hiking and cross-country skiing trails, and excellent fishing and paddling on both Caldron Falls Flowage and the adjacent Peshtigo River. The park is open year-round from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., and a Wisconsin state park vehicle admission sticker is required for entry.
