Gold Bluffs Beach Campground occupies one of the most scenic stretches of the Northern California coast, tucked between forested bluffs and the wild Pacific Ocean within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. The campground's 26 sites sit among coastal vegetation with direct access to a secluded beach where Roosevelt elk frequently graze. The setting is exposed to ocean fog and strong winds typical of this rugged coastline. The campground serves as the primary access point for Fern Canyon, a narrow gorge with 50-foot walls covered in five-finger and sword ferns. Beyond Fern Canyon, campers have access to 70+ miles of hiking and biking trails through old-growth redwood forest. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and food storage locker. Facilities include flush toilets, free hot showers, and potable water available year-round. A camp host is present seasonally, and firewood is available for purchase. The campground is accessed via Davison Road, a narrow 10-mile dirt road beginning 3 miles north of Orick. Trailers are prohibited and vehicles are limited to 24 feet long and 8 feet wide, effectively excluding most large RVs.

Directions

From Highway 101, take the Davison Road exit 3 miles north of Orick, CA. Follow Davison Road for 10 miles on narrow dirt and gravel road to the campground. Vehicles wider than 8 feet or longer than 24 feet are prohibited. No trailers of any kind are allowed.
