About

Sue-meg State Park (formerly Patrick's Point State Park) encompasses 640 acres of dramatic coastal scenery 30 miles north of Eureka. The two group camping areas, Beach Creek and Red Alder, can each accommodate 9 to 100 people with up to 18 vehicles. Both sites include covered cook shelters equipped with hot and cold water, picnic tables, BBQ grills, and fire rings, with access to nearby restrooms featuring flush toilets and hot showers. The park sits on a forested marine terrace with rocky headlands, tide pools, and Agate Beach where visitors can collect stones. The reconstructed Yurok village of Sumeg provides cultural interpretation of the region's indigenous heritage. Several accessible trails traverse the bluffs offering ocean views at Wedding Rock and Palmer's Point. Dogs are permitted in campgrounds on a 6-foot leash but are not allowed on trails or beaches. Food must be stored in vehicles as campsite storage is not bear-proof. The park enforces a 15-night maximum stay per calendar year.
