About

Abalone Campground sits within the 640-acre Sue-meg State Park, perched on a lushly forested promontory beside the Pacific Ocean in the heart of California's coast redwood country. The campground occupies a densely wooded area where forests of Sitka spruce, western hemlock, shore pine, Douglas fir, and red alder stretch over an ocean headland dotted with wildflower-filled meadows. Each campsite includes a firm tent surface, picnic table, fire circle, and water spigot. Flush restrooms with coin-operated hot showers are conveniently located nearby. The campground has three ADA-accessible sites (#65, #68, and #69) with accessible amenities. An RV dump station is available at the park. Sue-meg State Park offers excellent opportunities for exploring tidepools, hiking through old-growth forests, and observing wildlife. The park includes ceremonial sites significant to the Yurok people, as well as dramatic sea stacks, beaches, and the restored Sumeg Village. Note that dogs are allowed in the campground but are prohibited on park trails except for service animals.
