About

Located 33 miles west of Santa Barbara along Highway 101, Gaviota State Park Campground provides 39 standard campsites in a coastal setting marked by the distinctive Southern Pacific railroad trestle crossing Gaviota Creek. The campground operates seasonally from April 1 through September 30, with reservations available through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance. Each campsite is paved and includes a fire ring and picnic table, accommodating up to eight people. The campground can handle RVs, campers, and trailers up to 24 feet in length, though no hookups are available. All vehicles and equipment must remain on pavement within marked campsite boundaries. Flush restrooms are provided, and firewood may be available for purchase on-site. The park offers direct beach access for swimming, surf fishing, and picnicking. Lifeguards are typically on duty from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Nearby attractions include hiking trails to Gaviota Peak, the Wind Caves, and a small hot spring. Dogs are permitted in the campground and day-use areas but not on the beach. The maximum consecutive stay is seven days during the camping season, with a yearly limit of 30 days.
