About

Florida Campground is a lightly used forest campground situated along the Florida River near the north end of Lemon Reservoir in southwestern Colorado. The 20 individual campsites nestle among Colorado blue spruce, Douglas fir, and aspen trees, providing well-shaded riverside camping. All individual sites operate first-come, first-served with vault toilets, potable water, picnic tables, and fire grates at each site. A few short pull-through and back-in sites can accommodate RVs up to 25 feet. The Florida River offers rainbow and brown trout fishing, though anglers should note that much of the river passes through private land. Lemon Reservoir, about 3 miles south, provides boating, water skiing, and fishing for rainbow trout and kokanee salmon. Hiking options include the Burnt Timber Trail starting at Transfer Park (1 mile north) and the Lost Lake and Stump Lake trails accessed via East Florida Road. A reservable group site beyond the regular camping area accommodates up to 75 people with 6 double tables, a buffet table, and 4 fire grates. Between September and May, water, trash pickup, and restrooms are unavailable. Private property borders the south side of the campground.
