About
Originally built in 1908 as an administration building for the Wolf Creek District of the Blackfeet National Forest, Fairview Ranger Station served as a remote work station until 1980. In 2011, major restoration work was completed to preserve this historic structure and make it available as a rental cabin. The 900 square foot cabin accommodates up to 6 guests with one double bed and two twin beds upstairs, plus a double futon and twin futon downstairs. The cabin is furnished with propane-powered heating, stove, refrigerator, and lighting, along with table settings for 8 and full kitchen tools. Guests must bring their own water for drinking, cooking, and washing, as well as bedding and personal supplies. Situated near Wolf Creek in the Salish Mountain Range of the Rocky Mountains, the area offers hiking, fishing, floating, hunting, and scenic driving opportunities. Wolf Creek has historically served as an important route for the Kootenai Indians, early prospectors, and railroads.
Directions
From Libby, Montana, follow Highway 37 North for 14 miles to Fisher River Road 763. Turn right and follow for 10 miles, then continue straight merging onto Wolf Creek/Fortine Creek Road 36 for another 17 miles. The cabin will be on the left.
