About

Located approximately 25 miles northeast of Libby on Forest Development Road 228, Barron Flat Dispersed Sites provides free primitive camping with boat launch access to Lake Koocanusa. The camping area is divided into two sections: three sites in an open area equipped with fire rings that can accommodate RVs up to 40 feet, and four sites in the boat dock parking area. Vault toilets serve both areas. The campground road and boat ramp are paved, though parking spurs and loops are native material. The fully developed boat ramp with dock provides access to Lake Koocanusa for motorized boating and fishing. Barron Creek, which flows 8.1 miles from its source to the lake, offers additional fishing opportunities. This is a pack-in, pack-out site with no potable water, trash services, or hookups. The area is managed from Memorial Day through Labor Day but remains accessible year-round depending on weather and road conditions. A 14-day stay limit applies on National Forest System lands.
