Coastal Flood Advisory issued August 9 at 9:43PM PDT until August 13 at 2:00AM PDT by NWS San Francisco CA
* WHAT...Up to 1.6 ft of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways. * WHERE...Bayshore locations along the San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, and Monterey Bay. * WHEN...Until 2 AM PDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of lots, parks, and roads with only isolated road closures expected. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...At the San Francisco tidal gauge, high tide is expected to be 1.6 ft above normal (7.46 ft MLLW) at 10:01 PM Monday 8/10, 1.6 ft above normal (7.44 ft MLLW) at 10:57 PM Tuesday 8/11, and 1.4 ft above normal (7.24 ft MLLW) at 11:49 PM Wednesday 8/12. These predictions include both astronomical tides and roughly 3-6 inches of additional water mainly from a combination of thermal expansion and accumulated sea level rise since the tidal datum was established (1983-2001). High tide varies up to 90 minutes earlier or later along the Pacific Coast and through the San Francisco Bay, respectively.
About
Dumbarton Quarry Campground on the Bay is the East Bay Regional Park District's premier full-service campground, situated on the eastern shore of San Francisco Bay in Fremont. Built on the site of a former rock quarry, the campground provides 63 campsites designed primarily for RV camping. Sixty paved sites offer full hookups including water, sewer, and 50-amp electrical connections, while three unpaved sites provide water-only service for a more rustic experience. The campground features modern amenities including two bathroom and shower buildings with hot showers, ADA-accessible restrooms, a camp store, Wi-Fi throughout the facility, a playground, and an amphitheater. Trails connect directly to adjacent Coyote Hills Regional Park and the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge, offering excellent opportunities for hiking, bicycling, and wildlife viewing along the bayshore marshlands. The location provides easy access to both natural areas and urban conveniences, with Fremont just minutes away. The campground accommodates large RVs up to 60 feet and accepts pets for a small nightly fee. Fires are permitted only in provided fire pits using commercial wood, though fire restrictions may be enforced seasonally.
