About

Deer Flat Boat-In Campground provides a unique camping experience on a peninsula at New Hogan Lake, managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. This primitive campground is only accessible by boat and offers 30 tent-only sites, making it the only boat-in camping option on the lake outside of the main developed campgrounds at Acorn and Oak Knoll. The campground operates seasonally from April through September. Each site is designated by a fire ring and includes a picnic table. Vault restrooms and trash receptacles are available, but there is no potable water, so campers must bring adequate supplies. Boats can be launched and vehicles parked at Fiddleneck Day Use Area. New Hogan Lake sits in the oak and brush-covered foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The 4,400-acre lake offers excellent fishing for striped bass, black bass, catfish, bluegill, and crappie year-round. Water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, and swimming are popular activities. Wildlife in the area includes black-tailed deer, wild turkeys, bald and golden eagles, osprey, and various hawks.

Directions

From Stockton, take State Highway 26 east for 30 miles. Turn right on Hogan Dam Road and continue for 3 miles to the Park Headquarters. Launch boats at Fiddleneck Day Use Area to access the campground.
