Requirements in order to launch your vessel include having your California boater card, current vessel registration including a current mussel fee sticker, and your vessel must be clean, drained and dried prior to launching. Additional information is available at calling the New Hogan Lake Project Office at 209-772-1343.

About
Acorn Campground is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills at New Hogan Lake, a 4,400-acre reservoir created by the Army Corps of Engineers in 1964. The campground features 128 spacious campsites scattered over rolling hills with partial shade from oak trees. Sites are just a short walk from the lake shores and offer paved driveways suitable for RVs and trailers, with many pull-through sites available. The lake provides excellent opportunities for boating, water skiing, wakeboarding, and jet skiing. Year-round fishing is productive for stripers, bass, crappie, bluegill, and catfish. The area features multiple recreational trails including the River of Skulls hiking trail below the dam, an eight-mile equestrian trail loop, and bicycle trails ranging from beginner to advanced. An easy 3-mile bike trail connects the park office with Acorn Campground. New Hogan Lake supports diverse wildlife including grey fox, mule deer, coyote, turkey, mountain lion, bobcat, and bald eagles during winter months. The south shore has been designated as a wildlife viewing area. The foothill location features warm, dry summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90 degrees, while winter months are mild. The nearby town of Valley Springs provides groceries and supplies, and historic sites including Carson Hill and the Black Bart Inn are within easy reach.
