About
Cypress Park Campground was formerly a developed Forest Service campground located high in the Chiricahua Mountains of Coronado National Forest, situated along the banks of Rucker Creek at approximately 6,000 feet elevation. The campground was known for its distinctive setting among a stand of exceptionally large Arizona cypress trees, mixed with oaks and pines. These venerable old water-loving conifers lent a unique character to this riparian mountain environment. The campground was accessible via Rucker Canyon Road and offered primitive camping facilities typical of National Forest campgrounds. Due to the arrangement of campsites among the large trees, the area was better suited for tents and smaller camping vehicles rather than large trailers. According to the U.S. Forest Service, this site no longer exists as a developed campground. The campground was closed to public entry following flood damage caused by monsoon storms, and it has not been reopened or maintained as a developed recreation site.
