Cross Ranch State Park Campground is situated along seven miles of the last free-flowing, undeveloped stretch of the Missouri River in central North Dakota. The park offers two main campground areas: Sanger Campground and Governors Centennial Campground, with a mix of modern sites with electricity and primitive sites. The extensive trail system spans nearly 17 miles through mixed prairie grass, river bottom forests, and woody draws, providing access to an adjacent 5,000-acre nature preserve managed by The Nature Conservancy where bison roam freely. The park's campgrounds serve as base camps for exploring the cultural and natural history of the Missouri River valley. Anglers can fish for walleye, northern pike, catfish, and other species from the boat ramp or shoreline. The trail system accommodates hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing in winter. Canoe and kayak rentals are available for paddling the scenic river stretches. Campsites range from primitive backcountry sites accessible by hiking to modern sites with electrical hookups that can accommodate multiple units. The park maintains year-round facilities including a visitor center with showers and flush toilets, vault toilets throughout the campgrounds, and a dump station.
