About

Cosby Group Camp creates a peaceful and secluded environment for traditional tent camping in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The campground features three group sites, including one accessible site, each accommodating up to 20 visitors. Located at 2,460 feet elevation beside Cosby Creek, the camp offers a moderate climate with mild winters and hot, humid summers. Each site includes tent pads, fire rings, grills, and picnic tables. Modern amenities include flush toilets and drinking water. The campground is surrounded by the diverse plant and animal life of the Smokies, home to approximately 1,500 black bears and countless other species. The scenery transforms from bright wildflowers in spring to vivid colors in fall. Hikers can access over 800 miles of maintained trails from the campground, including the Appalachian Trail just three miles away via the Lower Gap Trail. The park also offers excellent trout fishing in mountain streams, wildlife viewing, and auto touring. The nearby town of Cosby is about five miles away for supplies, while Gatlinburg, Sevierville, and Pigeon Forge are approximately 20 miles from the campground.
