About

Cedro Peak Camping Sites Robin and Jay is a favorite destination in the southern Sandia Ranger District of Cibola National Forest, located in the Manzanita Mountains at an elevation of about 7,400 feet. The campground offers two large, fully accessible group sites situated in a scenic pinon pine and juniper forest amid the arid, hilly landscape. Jay site accommodates up to 100 people and 27 vehicles with a circular turnaround drive suitable for small travel trailers, while Robin site accommodates up to 150 people and 41 vehicles. Both sites feature grills, tables, covered picnic shelters, and large campfire circles. The campground provides exceptional access to the best trail system for mountain biking in Cibola National Forest. The region features more than 80 miles of single-track and equestrian trails connecting with the camping area, offering expansive views of the Sandia Mountains to the north and the Manzano Mountains. Mountain biking trails accommodate intermediate to advanced riders, and the area also supports hiking, horseback riding, and limited off-road vehicle trails. The campground is popular for outdoor games and serves as an ideal base camp for trail exploration. Facilities include accessible vault toilets and bear-proof trash receptacles. Water and electricity are not available, as water lines were retired in the mid-2000s due to freezing issues. Campers must bring their own water, firewood, and charcoal. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage is essential. The campground is accessed via a gated entrance, with gate lock combinations provided in reservation confirmations.
