DO NOT drop off your passengers at the visitor center. No trail access. Visitors must be driven to a trail system from the visitor center. If passengers want to go to the visitor center, WAIT FOR THEM in the parking lot until they come back out.

Vehicle Break-Ins: Take precautions to secure your vehicle and valuables.

This is an urban park. Don't hide valuables inside your car. Carry items with you on hike. Lock your vehicle and set car alarm. Recent auto break-ins at Rinconada Canyon parking lot. Report suspicious persons loitering/peeking in cars. Call 928-638-7805

All 3 petroglyph viewing trails are open. No trails at VC. WNPA Park Store open 9am - 4pm.

Drive to petroglyph viewing trails: Boca Negra Canyon (open 8:30 am - 4 pm); Rinconada and Piedras Marcadas Canyons (open 8 am to 5 pm). The Volcanoes Day Use Area (no petroglyphs, open 9 am to 5 pm). WNPA Park Store open for shopping 9am - 4pm daily.

Bicycle Use In The Monument

Bicycles are ONLY allowed at the following locations: 1 - On the Boca Negra Canyon paved multiuse path; bicycles must remain on the paved bike path. 2 - On the crusher fine trail that winds in and out of the park around the mesa top above Boca Negra.

Petroglyph National Monument Closures on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28, 2024

The Information Center, WNPA park store, Boca Negra Canyon, administrative offices, and gated parking lots will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Walk in access to Rinconada Canyon & Volcanoes Day Use Area is allowed. Piedras Marcadas Canyon lot & trail open

The Information Center and WNPA Park Store will be closed on December 25.

The Information Center and WNPA Park Store will close at 2:00 pm on December 24 and will be closed all day on December 25. We will reopen for normal hours on December 26.

Information Center Closed on January 1

The Information Center and WNPA Park Store will close at 2:30 pm on December 31 and will be closed all day on January 1. We will reopen for normal hours on January 2.

Federal Highways Contractors will be mobilizing in the park on 9/10/2025 for two weeks.

Watch for construction crews, equipment, and changing traffic patterns. Obey posted signage and flagger instructions. Reduced speed limits will be in effect near active work zones. Drive cautiously to protect workers and yourself.

Fireworks, Explosives and Sparks Restrictions

To prevent fires and for public safety order 03-00-23-001 prohibits to 1) possess, discharge, or use any kind of firework or other pyrotechnic devices; 2) use explosives; or 3) operate an internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting device in effective working order.
