About

Caswell Memorial State Park preserves one of the few remaining stands of native riparian oak woodland in California's Central Valley. The campground's 64 sites sit beneath towering valley oaks that have grown for centuries along the banks of the Stanislaus River. This dense canopy provides welcome shade during the region's hot summers and creates a surprisingly lush, forest-like atmosphere just a short drive from the agricultural towns of Ripon and Manteca. The Stanislaus River serves as the main attraction, offering swimming holes, fishing for catfish and bass, and opportunities to float in the calm waters. A nature trail loops through the park, showcasing the unique riparian habitat that supports abundant wildlife including woodpeckers, hawks, and deer. The campground is designed for tent camping and smaller RVs, with a maximum length of 24 feet for motorhomes and 21 feet for trailers. Facilities include restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, drinking water, and four ADA-accessible campsites. Each site comes equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and bear-proof food locker. Pets are welcome in the campground but are prohibited on trails and in the river. Reservations are available through ReserveCalifornia up to six months in advance.
