About

Cades Cove Campground occupies one of the most scenic and popular destinations in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The broad valley, surrounded by mountains on all sides, was settled by Europeans in the early 1800s after centuries of Cherokee hunting use. Today the 11-mile one-way loop road passes numerous preserved historic structures including log cabins, churches, and a working grist mill. The campground offers flush toilets and drinking water year-round, with a seasonal camp store operating May through October that provides limited groceries, supplies, and bike rentals. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. A dump station with potable water serves RV campers. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet and trailers up to 35 feet on paved roads and driveways. Wildlife viewing is exceptional here, with white-tailed deer commonly seen and frequent black bear sightings. The popular 5-mile roundtrip hike to 20-foot Abrams Falls departs nearby. Nearby horse stables offer guided rides from March through October. All food must be stored in vehicles or food lockers due to active bears in the area.
