About

Burnt Ranch Campground is a small, primitive campground operated by the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, located near the community of Burnt Ranch along the scenic Highway 299 corridor in Trinity County. The 16 first-come, first-served sites sit on a hillside above the Trinity River, providing a quiet base for exploring the river canyon and surrounding forest. The campground offers basic amenities including vault toilets and picnic tables at each site, but no potable water is available. Campers should come prepared with their own drinking water supply. Payment of $12 per night is handled via the self-registration station at the entrance, with cash or check accepted. Sites can accommodate trailers and smaller RVs up to 25 feet in length. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash of 6 feet or shorter. Horses and pack animals are not permitted. The Trinity River provides opportunities for fishing and swimming, though visitors should exercise caution near the water.
