About
East Fork Campground is a small, intimate campground nestled along the East Fork of Willow Creek in Six Rivers National Forest. Situated at 680 feet elevation, the campground sits under a mixed canopy of big leaf maple, Douglas fir, Port Orford cedar, and oak woodland. Most sites offer creekside access to a small creek ideal for wading and swimming. The campground provides a peaceful forest setting with shaded sites featuring picnic tables and fire rings.
Located approximately 4 miles west of Willow Creek, known as the Bigfoot capital of the world, and 4 miles from the Trinity River, the campground offers easy access to fishing, swimming, and whitewater rafting. The area provides opportunities for biking, hiking, and horseback riding, as well as fishing for migratory salmon and steelhead trout in the Trinity River. The surrounding Six Rivers National Forest and nearby oak woodlands provide habitat for threatened and endangered species, including bald eagles and peregrine falcons.
The campground reopened in September 2025 after being closed for over a year due to flood damage. It operates seasonally and closes during winter months. Campers must bring their own drinking and cooking water as no water is available on-site. The location is approximately 32 miles east of Arcata and 105 miles west of Redding on Highway 299.
