Located 12 miles north of Carlsbad in southeastern New Mexico, Brantley Lake State Park offers year-round camping at its Limestone Campground. The campground features 46 developed sites with water and electric hookups, accommodating RVs up to 60 feet at select sites. Most sites can handle rigs between 30-50 feet in length. The park is centered around Brantley Lake, a man-made reservoir that provides excellent opportunities for boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and swimming. The desert setting offers exceptional birdwatching and hiking trails. The campground includes modern amenities such as restrooms with flush toilets and hot showers, a dump station, and elevated grills at each site. Two group shelters are also available for day use. Reservations can be made up to 6 months in advance through the New Mexico State Parks reservation system. Sites are priced between $15-20 per night depending on hookups. The park operates under Stage II Fire Restrictions, prohibiting wood fires but allowing liquid petroleum or LPG-fueled devices in cleared areas. Daily entrance fees of $5-10 apply.
Directions
12 miles north of Carlsbad, NM via US Highway 285. Turn right (east) on County Road 30 (Capitan Reef Road). Go 4.5 miles and then turn left into the park. Campground is 2 miles past the visitor center.
