About
Blue Ridge Wilderness Campground offers a truly remote wilderness experience in Guadalupe Mountains National Park, surrounded by ponderosa pine and Douglas fir forests with wild roses and grassy meadows. Located in the high country of the Guadalupe Mountains at over 7,000 feet elevation, this primitive campground is accessible only by foot trail, requiring a 7.8-mile hike from Pine Springs Trailhead via the Tejas and Blue Ridge Trails, or 8.9 miles via the Tejas, Bush Mountain, and Blue Ridge Trails.
The campground has five designated primitive campsites, each requiring a wilderness use permit. No water, toilets, or other facilities are available, and campers must pack out all trash. Campfires are prohibited throughout the park, so bring a backpacking stove for cooking. A landfill-safe commercial toilet bag system is required for all overnight wilderness permit holders, with a minimum of one bag per person per night. The permit system helps preserve the wilderness character and protects the sensitive high-elevation ecosystem.
This is true backcountry camping for experienced wilderness users. Weather is highly variable, and hikers should be prepared for all conditions. The significant elevation gain and distance make this an appropriate destination for prepared backpackers seeking solitude in one of Texas's most spectacular wilderness areas.
