About

Beaver Dam State Park Campground sits within 750 acres of oak-hickory woodland in Macoupin County, about 7 miles southwest of Carlinville. The park takes its name from the numerous beaver dams found throughout the area when settlers first arrived. The trailer camping area provides electricity at each pad and centers around a shower building with flush toilets. A sanitary dump station serves RV campers. Tent camping occupies a separate wooded area with nearby restrooms and water. A youth group camping area features fire pads, picnic tables, restrooms, and water access. A rent-a-cabin is also available adjacent to the shower house. The 47-acre lake offers fishing opportunities with wheelchair-accessible docks at both the boat launch and concession areas. An archery range, hiking trails, and picnic shelters round out the recreational options. Hunting is permitted in designated areas during season.
