BEAVER CREEK DISPERSED SITE
Open — Accessible year-round for dispersed camping when road conditions permit, though Beaver Creek Road may be impassable during winter months due to snow. Fire restrictions may apply seasonally.
About
Beaver Creek Dispersed Site is located in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Lewis and Clark County, Montana, along the Beaver Creek drainage. As a dispersed camping area, this site offers a primitive backcountry experience without any developed amenities. There are no picnic tables, fire grates, toilets, trash service, or treated water available. Campers must be prepared to pack out all waste and follow Leave No Trace principles. The site is accessed via Forest Service Road 138 (Beaver Creek Road), which serves as the main route into the Beaver Creek area. This region is known for its connection to Holter Reservoir and the Missouri River, with Beaver Creek being a primary spawning tributary for rainbow and brown trout. The area may experience periodic restoration work and material staging for stream habitat projects. As with all dispersed camping in the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, campers must follow specific regulations including camping at least 200 feet from developed roads, trails, or facilities, and at least 100 feet from water sources. Fire restrictions may be in effect during high fire danger periods, and campers are responsible for checking current conditions before arrival. The forest operates under Northern Region camping restrictions and food storage orders for the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem.
