About

Battle Ridge Campground is a small, primitive campground situated at Battle Ridge Pass on the east side of the Bridger Mountains, approximately 22 miles north of Bozeman via Montana Highway 86. The 12-site campground sits within the Custer Gallatin National Forest on the Bozeman Ranger District, surrounded by evergreen-forested slopes that include the prominent 9,004-foot Ross Peak. This is a basic facility designed for those seeking a no-frills camping experience. The campground has vault toilets but no potable water, so campers must bring their own water supply. There is no trash service, requiring visitors to pack out all garbage. Sites are first-come, first-served with no reservations accepted. The campground is free to use outside the peak season, with a $10 per night fee charged between June 1 and September 15. Vehicle access is weather-dependent, typically available from mid-May through November, with snow affecting accessibility during winter months. The nearby Battle Ridge Trailhead provides access to hiking opportunities in the Bridger Mountains.
