About

Almont Campground is located in the Gunnison National Forest, just one mile southwest of the town of Almont along Colorado State Highway 135. The campground sits near the scenic Almont Gorge, where the East River and Taylor River converge to create the Gunnison River, making it an excellent basecamp for fishing and paddling. The surrounding landscape features aspen and cottonwood trees, providing pleasant shade during summer months. Recreation opportunities from the campground include 4-wheel driving, mountain biking, and kayaking. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with on-site payment available via QR code through the Recreation.gov mobile app.
