About

Big Rock Campground sits in a wooded setting along the Kancamagus Highway, one of New England's most scenic drives through the White Mountain National Forest. The campground takes its name from a large glacial erratic visible near the entrance, a remnant of the ice age that shaped this region. With 28 sites spread across the forested terrain, campers have options ranging from standard drive-up sites to walk-to and tent-only locations. Each campsite includes a picnic table, tent pad, fire ring, and parking turnout. Eight sites share a common parking area, while most others have individual parking suitable for small trailers and motorhomes. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water but no hookups, showers, or dump station. Fees are collected via self-service pay station. The location provides convenient access to numerous recreational opportunities including swimming and fishing in the East Branch Pemigewasset River, hiking to Franconia Falls, Upper Lady's Bath, Greeley Ponds Scenic Area, and exploring The Flume, The Basin, and Franconia Notch. Bear-resistant food storage practices are required.
