About

Tripoli Road Camping Area is a dispersed roadside camping zone located along Tripoli Road in White Mountain National Forest, accessible from Exit 31 off Interstate 93. This area is known for its popularity with larger groups and those seeking convenient vehicle-based camping close to trailheads and mountain access. Unlike traditional campgrounds, Tripoli Road offers informal roadside camping spots along the main forest road and ungated spur roads. Campers should not expect a quiet, secluded experience as this is a high-traffic area, especially on weekends. The camping setup is managed through a self-registration system with a trailer located two miles east on Tripoli Road from the interstate exit. Dispersed camping permits are required between 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM. Campers must practice low-impact camping ethics, including packing out all trash and staying out of designated Forest Protection Areas. The area provides convenient access to hiking trails including East Pond Trail and serves as a base for exploring the Waterville Valley region and Mount Osceola. Water must be treated or filtered from nearby streams and brooks. The camping area is managed by the Pemigewasset Ranger District and operates seasonally when Tripoli Road is open.
