About
Located at the western end of the scenic Kancamagus Highway, Hancock Campground serves as an excellent starting point for White Mountain adventures. This 56-site wooded campground sits just 5 miles east of Lincoln, New Hampshire, offering a peaceful forest setting with convenient access to civilization. The nearby Lincoln Woods Visitor Center marks the trailhead for numerous hiking routes leading into the Pemigewasset Wilderness, one of the most spectacular backcountry areas in the White Mountains.
The Kancamagus Highway itself is an extremely popular scenic byway featuring countless opportunities for hiking, picnicking, and swimming along its 34-mile length. The campground's location at the western terminus makes it particularly convenient for exploring the highway's attractions while maintaining proximity to the town of Lincoln, which offers restaurants, shops, and other services.
Hancock Campground provides a blend of tent-only walk-in sites and sites suitable for RVs, though no hookups are available. The wooded sites offer privacy and a true forest camping experience, with flush toilets and drinking water available during the main season. Winter camping is available with reduced services, making this a year-round destination for hardy campers seeking a White Mountain experience in any season.
