Lake Isabel Cabin offers a unique blend of backcountry experience and modern comfort at 8,599 feet in the Wet Mountains of Colorado. This historic ranger cabin sits across Highway 165 from Lake Isabel, a 40-acre lake built by the Civilian Conservation Corps and stocked with brown, brook, and rainbow trout. The cabin accommodates up to six guests in three sets of twin bunks within a separate sleeping area. The full-service cabin includes a kitchen with refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and oven with cooktop. Amenities include a flush toilet with tub and shower, washer and dryer, and an indoor wood-burning fireplace. Outside, guests have access to a picnic table and campfire ring, with parking for up to four vehicles. Firewood is not supplied. Nearby recreation includes non-motorized boating and fishing at Lake Isabel, plus access to the Snow Slide Trail and the 15-mile Cisneros Trail leading into the Wet Mountains. Winter activities include ice fishing, sledding, tubing, and cross-country skiing. A nearby summer lodge offers boat rentals, groceries, and a restaurant.

Directions

From Pueblo, take I-25 south to Exit 74. Head west on Highway 165 for approximately 20 miles. The cabin entrance is adjacent to Highway 165, directly across from the entrance to Lake Isabel Recreation Area.
