About
The Appalachian Clubhouse is a historic structure built in 1934 in the Elkmont Historic District. Originally a gathering place for members of the Appalachian Club, who built rustic cabins nearby as weekend retreats before the park was established, the building has been rehabilitated by the National Park Service to closely resemble its 1930s appearance. Today the 3,000-square-foot clubhouse provides a venue for meetings, events, and celebrations. The open meeting hall features exposed wooden beams, period-style light fixtures, and large stone fireplaces at each end equipped with gas logs. French doors open to a covered porch. The facility includes a warming kitchen with a double sink (hot and cold water) but no stove or refrigerator. Electrical outlets are available throughout. This is a day-use venue only. There is no overnight camping permitted at this facility. The adjacent Elkmont Campground offers traditional outdoor camping and is a separate reservation.
