About
Beaver Creek Group Camp is a popular group campground nestled along the Stillaguamish River in the Cascade region of Washington's Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. The site offers a spectacular view of Big Four Mountain and is surrounded by stands of old-growth forest featuring towering cedar, fir, and hemlock trees. The fairly flat terrain and proximity to bubbling Beaver Creek make it an ideal location for small group or family camping excursions. Located about 13 miles east of the Verlot Public Service Center on the Mountain Loop Scenic Byway, the campground serves as a basecamp for hiking, fishing, and wildlife viewing. Nearby attractions include the Big Four Ice Caves Trail, which ends with views of ice fields and the 6,153-foot north face of Big Four Mountain, and the Gold Basin Mill Pond interpretive trail featuring historic mill relics and a floating viewpoint. On clear days, the snow-capped summit of Mt. Baker is visible in the distance. The diverse forest habitat supports a variety of wildlife including black bears, and the area sustains rarer species such as lynx, moose, and wolverine. Winter visitors can enjoy skiing and snowshoeing in the surrounding terrain.
