Closed — Closed due to winter snow and road closures. Forest roads accessing the Ten Lakes Scenic Area are typically snow-covered and impassable from late fall through spring. Over-snow travel is permitted December 1 through May 31.

Isabella & Lost Girl Fires- Road and Trail Closure
Due to the Isabella and Lost Girl Fires on the Cabinet Ranger District, a closure order is now in effect for a portion National Forest System Road 407, National Forest System Trail #407A, and Trail #646 (St. Paul Lake Trail).
Spruce Fire Road Closure-Updated
Due to the Spruce and Spruce Ridge Fires on the Three Rivers Ranger District, a closure order is still in effect. However, the original order has been terminated and replaced with an updated closure.
South Meadow Creek Fire Closure
Due to the South Meadow Creek Fire, a closure order is now in effect for National Forest System Roads #524 and #5961, starting at the junction of the two roads to their respective ending points.
Kootenai Rails Trail Closure
A portion of the Kootenai Rails Trail (NFS Trail #255) on the Rexford Ranger District is now temporarily closed during construction activities on the Tobacco River Bridge, which is over the trail, and to protect the public on the trail from potential debris impacts.
About
Wolverine Lakes Dispersed Site 9 is located in the Ten Lakes Scenic Area, a 14,945-acre designated Wilderness Study Area in the extreme northwest corner of Montana's Kootenai National Forest. This primitive backcountry site sits in rugged, glacier-carved terrain characterized by high alpine basins, cirques, and crystal-clear mountain lakes. The Ten Lakes area, set aside for backcountry use since 1964, features spectacular scenery with peaks ranging from 7,400 to 7,800 feet, old-growth forests of Engelmann spruce, subalpine fir, and alpine larch, and abundant wildflowers in summer. The area is accessed via Forest Roads 114 and 319 from Highway 93 near Eureka, approximately 20 miles into the backcountry. Over 89 miles of trails crisscross the scenic area, popular for backpacking, hiking, and horseback riding. Wildlife is abundant, including white-tailed and mule deer, black bears, grizzly bears, and high-mountain bird species. This is Pack In/Pack Out country with no services or amenities at dispersed sites. Motorized vehicles are prohibited within the Scenic Area except for over-snow vehicles during winter months.

From Eureka on Highway 93, take Forest Road 114 or 319 approximately 20 miles to trailheads accessing the Ten Lakes Scenic Area. Backcountry hiking required to reach dispersed site.
