Open — The area is accessible year-round, though winter conditions bring snow that typically requires over-snow vehicle access. Summer and early fall are the primary camping seasons when trails are clear and alpine lakes are accessible.

Wolverine Lakes Dispersed Site 20 is located in the Ten Lakes Scenic Area, a 14,945-acre wilderness study area in the extreme northwest corner of Montana. Designated as a Scenic Area in 1964, this backcountry area preserves wilderness characteristics along the Canadian border in the Whitefish Mountains. The landscape was carved by alpine glaciers, creating dramatic cirques and high rim-rocked basins that shelter numerous alpine lakes. The Wolverine Lakes area is excellent for camping and fishing. An old cabin used by early border patrolmen still stands at Wolverine Lakes, with an outhouse nearby. The surrounding terrain features subalpine vegetation, rock headwalls, and old snowdrifts. Forested areas contain Engelmann spruce, subalpine fir, lodgepole pine, Douglas-fir, whitebark pine, and alpine larch. Wildflowers bloom abundantly in spring and summer, and huckleberries grow throughout the area. This is true backcountry camping in grizzly bear country. The Ten Lakes area is managed as a Pack In/Pack Out area with no motorized vehicles allowed except over-snow vehicles in winter. Wildlife includes grizzly and black bears, white-tailed and mule deer, wolverines, lynx, pika, and various high mountain birds. Access is via Forest Roads 114 and 319, approximately 20 miles off Highway 93 near Eureka. Over 89 miles of trails crisscross the scenic area.

From Eureka, Montana on Highway 93, take Forest Road 114 or 319 approximately 20 miles to reach the Ten Lakes Scenic Area and access trails to Wolverine Lakes.
