About

Whitetail Campground is nestled among pine trees along the Yaak River in the remote Yaak Valley of northwestern Montana. Located 24 miles north of Troy on Yaak Highway 508, this Kootenai National Forest campground provides a quiet retreat for those seeking solitude in the mountains. The campground features 12 sites, including a host site, each equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. Amenities include vault toilets and potable water during the managed season. An undeveloped access point allows visitors to launch small packable boats onto the Yaak River. The campground roads and parking spurs are gravel. A yurt rental is also available within the campground for those seeking a more sheltered experience. The surrounding area offers opportunities for fishing, wildlife viewing, and exploring the backcountry of the Yaak drainage.
