About

Kilbrennan Lake Campground sits along the shores of Kilbrennan Lake in the remote northwestern corner of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, about 13 miles from the small town of Troy. This primitive 7-site campground offers a peaceful retreat for campers seeking solitude, fishing, and access to the lake. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and fire ring. The campground roads and parking spurs are native soil, giving it a rustic character suited to tent campers and smaller rigs. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water, showers, or hookups. Campers should bring all water and be prepared to pack out trash. A boat ramp provides lake access for smaller watercraft. Services including laundry, gas, ice, and groceries are available in Troy. Dump facilities and showers can be found at Kootenai River Campground on the west side of Troy for a fee.

Directions

From Troy, travel west on Highway 2 for 3 miles to East Side Road (Forest Road 176). Turn right and follow Road 176 north for 2 miles to Kilbrennan Lake Road (Forest Road 2394). Turn right and continue approximately 8.5 miles to the campground entrance.
