About
West End Tent and Trailer Campground occupies a scenic hillside on the north shore of Fort Peck Lake, one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. The campground features 13 designated sites with electrical hookups and an overflow area for additional camping. Historically first-come, first-served, the campground now uses a same-day reservation system where campers can only book sites on the day of arrival for up to 14 nights.
The location is particularly popular with anglers seeking access to Fort Peck Lake's world-class walleye fishing, as well as excellent opportunities for sauger, smallmouth bass, lake trout, chinook salmon, and northern pike. Two boat ramps are located within two miles of the campground. The setting provides partial to full lake views from most campsites, and deer frequently visit in the evenings. The campground tends to be quieter than the main Downstream Campground, offering a more peaceful experience while still providing convenient amenities.
Fort Peck Lake provides nearly 400 square miles of recreation opportunities including boating, fishing, kayaking, and swimming. The surrounding Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge and Fort Peck Lake area offer exceptional wildlife viewing and hunting for deer, elk, bighorn sheep, and pronghorn. The Beaver Creek Nature Area, five miles away, provides three miles of hiking and biking trails.
