About
West End Tent and Trailer Campground occupies a hillside with partial lake views on the north shore of Fort Peck Lake, one of the largest reservoirs in the United States. The campground features 13 designated campsites with electrical hookups, each with a picnic table and fire ring. An overflow section accommodates additional campers during busy periods. Facilities include flush toilets, showers, a vault toilet, and water spigots throughout the campground. Fort Peck Lake enjoys nationwide recognition as a walleye fishing destination, and West End's location near two boat ramps makes it a favorite among anglers. The lake also offers excellent fishing for sauger, smallmouth bass, lake trout, chinook salmon, and northern pike. Beyond fishing, visitors can explore the Beaver Creek Nature Area five miles away with three miles of hiking and biking trails, or visit the Fort Peck Interpretive Center and Museum near the dam. The campground operates on a same-day reservation system through Recreation.gov. Reservations are only allowed on the day of arrival for stays up to 14 nights, with no advance booking permitted. The surrounding Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge provides exceptional wildlife viewing and hunting opportunities for deer, elk, bighorn sheep, and pronghorn.
