About
Wentworth Springs Campground sits at approximately 6,000 feet elevation along the historic Rubicon Jeep Trail in Eldorado National Forest. This free, primitive campground offers 8 tent sites (including two double-unit sites) on a first-come, first-served basis. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring, with vault toilets available nearby. No potable water is provided; river water is accessible but must be boiled before drinking. The campground is known for its remote, rugged character. The access road is rough and 4WD vehicles are recommended, though 2WD pickups with ample ground clearance can navigate the route in good conditions. The location along the Rubicon Trail makes it popular with off-road enthusiasts exploring one of California's most famous 4x4 routes. Due to the remote location, emergency medical assistance is not readily available. Campers should bring a well-stocked first aid kit and all necessary supplies. Bears are present in the area; store all food, toiletries, and garbage properly. Pack out all trash as no garbage service is provided.
