Loon Lake Equestrian Group Campground is one of three group camping options within the Loon Lake Campground complex, specifically designated for equestrian use. Located on the south shore of Loon Lake at 6,500 feet in the Sierra Nevada mountains, this group site accommodates up to 25 people with a maximum of 8 vehicles. The site is designed for campers with horses, and bringing a horse is mandatory when reserving this site. The campground provides vault toilets, drinking water from faucets, fire rings, picnic tables, and bear-proof food storage lockers. A dump station is available in the main campground area. No hookups are available. Firewood is sold on-site during the operating season. Popular activities include horseback riding on nearby trails, exploring the 18-mile Rubicon Jeep Trail, boating, swimming, and fishing on Loon Lake.
