About

Timberline Campground in Pike National Forest offers 30 campsites at 9,700 feet elevation near Kenosha Pass. The two loops wind through stands of aspen, spruce, and lodgepole pines along Hoosier Creek. Wildlife sightings are common, including elk, mule deer, moose, golden eagles, and porcupines. The abundant aspens make this a prime fall color destination. The Colorado Trail passes within a mile of the campground, providing access to 471 miles of hiking, biking, and equestrian trail stretching from Denver to Durango. Fishing is available in Hoosier Creek. Nearby Fairplay hosts the South Park City Museum with 34 historic buildings and 60,000 artifacts. Each site includes a fire ring, picnic table, and pedestal grill. Vault toilets are available but there is no potable water on site. Reservations are available through Recreation.gov at least 4 days in advance, with a 2-night minimum on weekends and 3-night minimum on holidays. Walk-up campers are exempt from minimum stay requirements.
