About

Timberline Campground is located near Kenosha Pass in Pike National Forest, approximately 7 miles southwest of the small town of Grant. The campground sits at an elevation of 9,700 feet along Hoosier Creek and features 30 family campsites divided into two loops separated by a rise. Both loops are situated among stands of aspen, spruce, and lodgepole pines, with the abundance of aspens creating particularly impressive scenery during fall. The campground provides vault toilets, picnic tables, fire rings, and grills, but no drinking water is available on-site. The roads through the campground are dirt and gravel. Wildlife viewing opportunities abound, with the area home to golden eagles, elk, mule deer, moose, chipmunks, and porcupines. The mild summer temperatures and cool nights make it an ideal base for exploring the area. The epic 471-mile Colorado Trail, which stretches from Denver to Durango, is located within one mile of the campground and offers abundant hiking, biking, and horseback riding opportunities. Fishing is available in Hoosier Creek. Nearby Fairplay, once a frontier boomtown, features the South Park City Museum with 34 authentic historical buildings and 60,000 artifacts.

Directions

From Denver, take Highway 285 southwest to Park County Road 58. Turn right and follow to Forest Road 125. Turn right and continue about 0.5 miles to the campground entrance. Both Park County Route 58 and Forest Road 125 are gravel roads open to licensed vehicles only.
