About
Kenosha East Campground sits at the top of Kenosha Pass across Highway 285 from the larger Kenosha Pass Campground. At 10,000 feet elevation, it offers 12 universally designed campsites with high grills, picnic tables, benches, and fire rings at each site. The campground is first-come, first-served only with on-site payment via cash, check, or QR code through the Recreation.gov mobile app.
The area is adjacent to a wetland interpretive area and the historic remnants of the South Park and Pacific Railroad wye, once used by helper engines to assist trains over the pass. The Colorado Trail runs adjacent to the campground, making this an excellent basecamp for hiking. Sites accommodate up to 8 people, 2 tents, and either 2 vehicles or 1 RV.
Full services including trash collection and a camp host at nearby Kenosha Pass Campground are available from Memorial Day through Labor Day. The extended shoulder season from early May to late December operates with reduced services. No potable water is available at any time; campers must bring their own water supply.
Directions
From Denver, drive southwest on US Highway 285 for approximately 50 miles. Kenosha East Campground is located off Highway 285 at the top of Kenosha Pass, on the east side of the highway.
