About
Robinson Flat Campground sits at 6,800 feet elevation in the Tahoe National Forest, marking the terminus of the scenic Foresthill Divide Road driving tour. This remote, no-fee campground offers 14 sites split evenly between family camping and equestrian use, positioned near a beautiful meadow and stream under a canopy of pines and firs. The campground serves as a staging area for the Western States Trail, popular with both hikers and equestrians. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets are provided, but there is no potable water or trash service. A hand pump well exists nearby but water should be treated. Campers must pack out everything they bring in. Access requires driving 27 miles northeast of Foresthill on a road that becomes narrow, winding, and unpaved near the end. Trailers are not recommended due to road conditions. The campground operates first-come, first-served with no reservation system. OHV use is restricted to 2-wheeled vehicles only, with motorized vehicles prohibited in adjacent wilderness areas.
Directions
From I-80, take the Foresthill exit and drive on Foresthill Road for 15 miles to the Forest Service Ranger Station just before Foresthill. Continue on Foresthill Road for 27 miles until the pavement ends at Robinson Flat. The final stretch is narrow and winding.
