Meadowbrook Area Campground

About

Meadowbrook Area Campground occupies the southern section of Big Stone Lake State Park, established in 1961 on Minnesota's border with South Dakota. The 26-mile-long lake forms the headwaters of the Minnesota River and offers excellent walleye, northern pike, and panfish angling. Thirteen campsites sit close enough to the water to fish directly from your site, though none of these lakeshore spots have electric hookups. The campground provides a modern shower building with flush toilets and hot showers, operational from Memorial Day through Labor Day. A sanitary dump station serves RV campers during the season. Most sites are shady and level, with mature trees providing good cover. The park office sits a short walk from the campground and boat launch, rebuilt in 2012. Beyond camping, the Meadowbrook Area includes a swimming beach, 3-mile hiking trail through prairie and woodland, and rental equipment including canoes, kayaks, and fishing gear. The Bonanza Area to the north and Overlook Area offer additional day-use facilities with scenic vistas of the lake and surrounding prairie landscape.
