Log Gulch Campground

Closed — Closed for the season. Operates Memorial Day through Labor Day with reservation-only sites. Camp hosts are available seven days a week during the operating season.

About

Log Gulch Campground is situated on the picturesque Holter Lake along the Missouri River, approximately 45 miles north of Helena and 60 miles south of Great Falls. The 70-site campground offers reservation-only camping in a shrub-steppe landscape dotted with ponderosa pine and bunch grasses, with poplar and green ash trees providing shade during summer months. The campground is surrounded by sparsely wooded hills and offers stunning views of the Sleeping Giant Wilderness Study Area. Facilities include gravel parking pads that accommodate both RVs and tents, with most sites allowing up to two camping units. All sites feature fire rings with grill grates and picnic tables. The campground provides a concrete boat launch with courtesy dock, first-come first-served dock slips for overnight guests, and a fish cleaning station. A swimming beach with an enclosed area is available during the operating season. Potable water is accessible at various locations throughout the campground, and vault toilets are distributed throughout the site. Two ramada shelters are available, with the upper ramada bookable for groups and the lower available first-come, first-served. The recreation opportunities are extensive, including boating (motorized and non-motorized), water skiing, fishing, swimming, hiking, wildlife viewing, and bird watching. The area provides access to fishing and hunting access points, and the historic Gates of the Mountains site is accessible by watercraft. The campground is located along the Lewis and Clark Trail corridor and offers proximity to Helena and Great Falls attractions.
