About

Log Gulch Campground occupies a prime location on Holter Lake in Montana's Chain of Lakes recreation area, between Helena and Great Falls along the historic Lewis and Clark Trail corridor. The campground is surrounded by a shrub-steppe landscape of ponderosa pine and bunch grasses, with views of the Sleeping Giant Wilderness Study Area. Gates of the Mountains Historic Site is accessible by boat from the campground. The 70-site campground offers spacious gravel parking pads that can accommodate RVs, camper trailers, and tents. Most sites allow two camping units. Amenities include potable water throughout, garbage dumpsters, and restrooms with a changing room near the beach. Each campsite has a fire ring with grill grate and a picnic table. A large concrete boat launch with courtesy dock and day-use/overnight dock slips (first-come, first-served) serve boaters. Recreational opportunities include fishing, water skiing, wildlife viewing, hiking, and hunting. The area is home to bears, rattlesnakes, and other wildlife. All watercraft must be cleaned, drained, and dried before launching. Quiet hours are 10:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a maximum stay of 7 consecutive days (14 days within 28).
