Sorry for the inconvenience. Our construction window has been moved, and our water system lines will be replaced in July at White Sandy now. Construction is scheduled to take place from July 6th to July 31st. We understand this is not ideal timing. There may be camping opportunities available during this closure period at Devil’s Elbow, Holter Lake or Log Gulch. For other alternatives look at Montana FWP or Bureau of Reclamation Canyon Ferry. For additional information you may call (406) 233-1098.

About
White Sandy Campground occupies a prime location on the west side of Hauser Lake, facing Eldorado Bar and the Big Belt Mountains. The 32-site campground features spacious, level gravel parking pads that accommodate RVs, travel trailers, and tents. Each campsite includes a fire ring with grill grate and picnic table. Potable water and garbage dumpsters are available throughout, with vault toilets located in each loop. A large concrete boat launch with courtesy dock provides excellent lake access, and a designated beach area offers swimming opportunities. The surrounding shrub-steppe landscape of sagebrush and bunch grasses means limited natural shade, though the lake helps moderate summer temperatures. The campground includes ADA-accessible sites and facilities, with paved pathways connecting main areas. A ramada/pavilion with power and lights is available by reservation for group gatherings. Helena is a short drive away with restaurants, museums, and historic sites including Last Chance Gulch and Reeder's Alley. The area offers extensive recreation including world-class mountain biking trails, fishing access sites, and wildlife viewing throughout the Hauser Lake Recreation Area.
Directions
From Helena, drive north on I-15. From Great Falls, drive south on I-15 to the Lincoln Road exit. Turn east on Lincoln Road and continue to the T-intersection with Hauser Dam Road. Turn left (north) and continue about 4 miles until White Sandy Recreation Area is directly in front of you on the right side of the road. If you reach Black Sandy State Park, you have gone too far.
