About
Little Todd Campground occupies a secluded position on Isle Royale's north shore, accessible only by foot along the Minong Ridge Trail or by non-motorized watercraft. The Minong Ridge Trail is Isle Royale's most challenging route, requiring solid navigation skills and a willingness to tackle rough, minimally maintained terrain with creek crossings that often result in wet feet. The campground provides four individual tent sites, each equipped with a fire ring. Seasonal composting toilets serve the area, though no potable water is available. Campers must treat water from nearby sources. A stay limit of two consecutive nights applies from June 1 through Labor Day. All overnight visitors need a free backcountry permit, obtainable upon arrival at Rock Harbor, Windigo, or aboard the Ranger III ferry. Isle Royale's remote wilderness setting means visitors must be self-sufficient. Pack out all trash, bring adequate water treatment, and store food properly due to active wolf populations on the island. The park operates seasonally from April 16 through October 31.
Directions
Little Todd Campground is located on the north shore of Isle Royale, off the Minong Ridge Trail. Access is by foot via the Minong Ridge Trail or by canoe/kayak. No motorized boat access is available.
